Egyptrixx - Start From the Beginning

Honestly, I didn’t know anything about Egyptrixx until the other day when I was scouring the internet for some more ambient music to feed my surprisingly increasing desire. At this point in my searches I had started to wear of the typical sky-scraping themes that are so common with countless artists out there. I was demanding for something more dissonant, more in the vein of Tim Hecker’s most recent release.

Then I stumbled upon this gem. Everything about this track simply commands your attention. The opening sounds are so massive they force you to stop what your doing. The skittering cymbals only add more apprehension to the mix, and when it all coalesces you’re left with something that almost makes you shift in your seat because something’s not quite right. Yet you want to hear it again in the hopes that on the second listen it’ll work itself out into a more pleasant experience. But instead it just grows on you, leaving you just as uncomfortable yet you can’t stop listening to it.
