The xx - Islands (Nosaj Thing Remix)

While I thought that The xx’s self-titled debut album was OK but nothing to write home about, I’m constantly surprised by how many diverse artists have either covered or remixed their work. After sifting through quite a bit of these remixes and covers, I managed to unearth this fantastic gem. 

Nosaj Thing has managed to maintain the haunting vocals from the original, and only accentuate its darkness. Not only has he managed to turn the track into an electronic oddsey through a dimly lit cave, only to leave you stranded at the end waiting for a more satisfying conclusion to be reached. I do believe that’s just the sort of thing that The xx would appreciate.
