Peter, Bjorn and John - Up Against The Wall

Peter, Bjorn and John are best known for being the masterminds behind that whistle song (a.k.a. Young Folks). But what people may not realize is that the rest of their album Writer’s Block is filled with solid jams. On this track, the triumvirate of scandinavians utilize the strategy of less is more. The song starts out with a very simple drum beat, and natural guitars. But then, Peter’s crooning voice takes center stage. Evenutally, bits and pieces of distortion are added and the song slowly builds up a small head of steam. And then just like the song started, it gradually slows down and fades away, leaving the listener soothed and relaxed. Just the kind of song to help you decompress after a long day.
