I’ve been on a bit of a hip-hop and soul binge as of late. It seems as if almost nothing will satisfy my desire to listen to some great beats and even better singing. Which explains why a track like this has instantly become one of my favorite tracks in recent history.
While taking nods from previous beat-making visionaries, Oddisee has worked some of his magic with a soulful sample and some perfect complimentary percussion to match it. I love how the sample remains largely untouched, which only adds to some of its mystique. Turn it on, close your eyes, and get transported to the past back when Motown ruled the world.
